I was really eager to buy the Studio Calico December Daily kit this year, only to discover that the Ali Edwards/SC version’s color scheme really isn’t working for me. Although they’re my favorite colors for 11 of 12 months of the year, for some reason, I really don’t like pink and aqua for Christmas.
So I’m making my own kit. I have a lot left over from last year’s kit and the other ton of holiday themed everything I already own (or recently purchased for the purpose of “making Xmas cards.” I’ll be using the white album that came with the Ali Edwards Week in the Life kit (my WITL will just be incorporated into my regular PL).
After going through my stash, I pulled together the following sheets for inspiration. What do you think?
I love Christmas stuff! Recently, I purchased a bunch of Christmas-themed items from yourscrapbooksupplies.com. They have a wonderful selection of products – many of which are completely new collections – at fabulous prices. I picked up almost every piece in Pink Paislee’s Merry and Bright collection 50% off.
I have many plans for this collection. Originally, I had planned to buy Ali Edward’s December Daily (DD) kit — I loved 2013’s Studio Calico DD. This year’s color scheme of aquas and pinks, just don’t work for me. I love the classic Christmas red, green, taupe, and black, color scheme of the Merry and Bright collection though and have decided to use bits and pieces from the collection to create my own kit and also create two mini December Daily kits for my best friends as gifts.
The two cards in this post use a Freckled Fawn’s “Joy” metal die that came in my haul. I can’t imagine creating multiples of the same Christmas cards for myself since I’m already helping my friend make about 40 of her own. I can, however, think of many ways to be creative with all the Christmas supplies I already have and plan to get. Since I started so early this year I think that by the time late November rolls around, I think I will have at least 20 unique cards, if not more. Have I mentioned that I love Christmas craft stuff?
As much as I love to travel and learn new things — did you know that in Australia, kangaroos are like bunnies and you could easily find one munching on your flower bed!! — nothing beats being home. This is especially true during December, which I like to think of as Christmas all month!
This is my first December Daily and I was flummoxed the first few weeks. I’ve never built pages in advance. I took my album and a scrapbook travel kit on a recent two week trip and managed to cobble together a few titles. But once my Thanksgiving start date rolled around, I was ready to go! Below are some shots of my December Daily so far.
